All medical plans are the same, right?

While we’d like to think our plans can do everything for everyone, the truth is you need to choose the best plan for your situation. That means asking yourself important questions like:

  • Would I rather save money or have the most choice possible?
  • Is my favorite doctor out-of-network for Kaiser/UHC?
  • Do I usually spend more than $1,500 per year on medical care?
  • Would I rather take ServiceNow’s HSA contribution or be in a no or lower deductible health plan?

Ready to answer these questions?

Visit ALEX, our online benefit advisor will guide you through questions to help you understand our benefits and make the best choice for you and your family.

UnitedHealthcare High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) with HSA

This is a PPO-style plan with a higher deductible. It utilizes the Choice Plus network of physicians and facilities. There is one notable difference between the HDHP and a traditional PPO plan: first, the deductible is higher and you must pay the deductible before the plan pays benefits for most services.

There are advantages to this medical plan:

  1. Your semi-monthly payroll contribution is less than the other medical plan choices.
  2. You can open a Health Savings Account (HSA) and save for health expenses with pre-tax money.
  3. SerivceNow contributes money to your HSA – up to $1000 for single coverage and up to $2000 for employee + dependent(s). The amount ServiceNow contributes is pro-rated throughout the year based on your date of hire.

UnitedHealthcare Preferred Provider Organization (PPO)

This is a “traditional” PPO medical plan. The deductible is low, but your semi-monthly payroll deductions are higher than our other medical plans – and you do not have access to the Health Savings Account, it is only available through the UnitedHealthcare HDHP medical plan discussed above. The PPO plan also uses the Choice Network of physicians and facilities.
